 SOGS Pride Events 2017

Pride Social @ the Grad Club – On Thursday, June 29, join us at the Grad Club at 6:00pm to decorate rainbow sugar cookies. At 7:30pm, LGBTQ trivia will start. Prizes to be won!

Visit the Western Pride Banner @ the Grad Club – From July 3 to July 7, the Western Pride Banner will be at the Grad Club. Come take a photo with it and show your #WesternUPride. Join the Facebook Event Page.

 

SOGS Booth at London Pride Outdoor Festival

Our members are invited to share their LGBQT+ research and experience at the Outdoor Festival throughout the weekend:

  • Friday, July 28: 6-11pm
  • Saturday, July 29: 11am-11pm
  • Sunday, July 30: 11am-6pm

Western Pride 2017

Western, Show Your Pride!
July 3-7
Western’s Pride Banner is making its way around campus, travelling to eight locations, including the International Graduate Affairs Building Atrium and the Grad Club (July 3 – July 7). If you see the banner take a pic and share it with the world with the hashtag #westernupride.

Out in the Sun
July 20, 10:30am
Help raise the Pride Flag on campus. Plan to attend the “Out in the Sun” ceremony on the Concrete Beach on July 20 at 10:30 a.m. There will be a brief ceremony and refreshments. Everyone welcome.

Lighting up Alumni Hall
July 20-30
From July 20 – July 30, Alumni Hall will be illuminated in rainbow colours as a shout-out to Pride activities.

Outdoor Festival
July 28, 6-11pm; July 29, 11am-11pm; July 30, 11am-6pm

The SOGS booth at the Outdoor Festival is available to host Western LGBQT+ research and researchers.

Help us paint London’s Pride Parade Route purple!
July 30, 11:30am
Get your purple on and join Western community members in the 23rd London Pride Parade. Meet in the Western Fair District Parking Lot (Off Rectory Street) on Sunday, July 30, 2017 (parade formation from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m). Parade starts at 12:30 p.m.

 

Remember to deck yourself out in purple and join in the parade. Here is the parade route. 

 

Western Queer Caucus

Founded in 2007 as a group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, two-spirited, questioning, and queer faculty and graduate students and their allies, as well as for people engaged in various forms of queer academic work. The caucus links people across faculties, schools, and departments and is intended to help forge community, facilitate academic alliances, promote scholarship, provide a venue for activism, and encourage discussions and practices of diverse forms of queer pedagogy. The Queer Caucus sponsors academic talks, social events, and Queer Research Day, which is held in April every year.
