FRONT OFFICE SUPPORT STAFF
We’re looking to hire one (1) part-time Front Office Support Staff to help better support the Society.
PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Front Office Support Staff (FOSS) are responsible for assisting with student inquiries, distributing bus passes, addressing general Health and Dental Plan queries, and student services questions, as well as providing general office, membership, and staff support in the Society of Graduate Students (SOGS) office. The FOSS reports directly to the Membership Services Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Currently enrolled at Western University or affiliate campus as a graduate student (i.e., are a SOGS member) or is a SOGS alumnus.
- Experience working in a front-facing client or membership services role.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
-
- Experience working in the university sector and with student populations.
- Experience working for a non-profit, union, or advocacy organization.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, and ATTRIBUTES:

- Demonstrates flexibility, effective communication, collaboration, and diplomacy with an annually elected Executive Committee in a changing environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Strong membership service, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Maintains composure with individuals experiencing stress, grief, or distress.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Upholds confidentiality of personal information.
- Uses initiative and self-direction to complete tasks.
- Exercises tact and diplomacy in all working relationships with the following, but not limited to, graduate student membership, Health and Dental Plan contacts, university partners, and SOGS staff, representing the organization thoughtfully and professionally.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to troubleshoot.
TIME COMMITMENT: This position is expected to have a workload of 6–24 hours per week (excluding office closures). The typical work week is two (2) shifts per week from 10 AM to 4 PM (12-hours per week).
REMUNERATION: $22 per hour
